Church of Saint Fiorenzo
Church of Saint Fiorenzo (cimitery) , Località San Fiorenzo , 12060 Bastia Mondovì (CN) Italy
In Bastia, just outside Mondovì, there is the "Sistine Chapel of Piemonte", that is the one that in my opinion is the most beautiful
small church frescoed in medieval times that I have ever seen !
A true jewel of art with one of the most beautiful and best preserved painting cycles in the world.
The frescoes of the church dedicated to Saint Fiorenzo cover the entire interior, for a total of about 326 m2!
According to the hypothesis of the critic Geronimo Raineri, Antonio from Monteregale could have contributed to fresco part of the wall
of the altar in collaboration with other painters.
Before the year one thousand it was a small chapel, later it was enlarged.
It was frescoed at about the beginning of the fourteenth century.
The church is so beautiful that I can not not publish the photos of some frescoes (although we know for sure that
are NOT traceable to Antonio from Monteregale ).
I invite you to visit the relevant sites on the internet that talk about it and describe its beauty,
there are a lot of them with a lot of pictures and a lot of detailed news,
one of these is the relative internet site of the O.N.L.U.S. association for its valorization.
If possible visit it because it is a show and it really leaves you breathless!
